Residents of a quiet community in Delta State were thrown into confusion and fear in the early hours of Tuesday following a bizarre incident in which a bird allegedly transformed into an elderly woman.
Eyewitnesses said the strange occurrence took place around 5 a.m. when the bird reportedly fell from an electric pole after villagers heard unusual cries from the area. To the astonishment of onlookers, the bird was said to have changed into an old woman who lay weak and motionless on the ground.
A resident, identified as Mama Rose, told reporters that the bird had been flying around the area since midnight, making strange noises.
“We were hearing odd sounds from the sky, and when the bird fell, it turned into a woman before our eyes. Everybody ran because we were scared,” she said.
The unusual event drew a large crowd as residents trooped to the scene. While some attributed the incident to witchcraft, others speculated it could have been a spiritual attack gone wrong.
Local vigilantes were called in to control the crowd and ensure the woman’s safety. She was later taken away by security operatives for protection and further investigation.
