Major General AK Ibrahim Tasks Newly Promoted NDA Officers To Strive For Excellence

 

The Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Major General AK Ibrahim, OFR, has charged newly promoted senior officers of the Academy to remain steadfast in the pursuit of excellence and professionalism as they take on higher responsibilities.

He gave the charge during the investiture ceremony held in honour of four senior officers on Friday, 17 October 2025, at the NDA Officers’ Mess and Golf Club, Afaka, Kaduna.

According to Major Mohammed Maidawa, the Academy Public Relations Officer, the newly promoted officers, who were all elevated from the rank of Lieutenant Colonel to Colonel in the Nigerian Army, are Colonel HZ Babayo, Colonel I Omeaniba, Colonel US Dabo, and Colonel GN Odo.

In his remarks, Major General Ibrahim congratulated the officers on their well-deserved promotion, describing it as a recognition of their hard work, dedication, and diligence. He noted that the elevation marked the beginning of a new phase in their careers, adding that higher ranks come with greater expectations and responsibilities.

The Commandant urged the officers not to betray the confidence reposed in them but to remain committed to continuous learning, discipline, and the core values of the Armed Forces. He also advised them to take good care of their families and ensure that their new status reflects positively at home.

Also speaking at the event, the Deputy Commandant, Air Vice Marshal A Abdulkadir, congratulated the officers and described their promotion as a reward for sacrifice and loyalty. He encouraged them to remain disciplined, motivated, and focused in their service to the nation.

Delivering the vote of thanks on behalf of the newly promoted officers, Colonel HZ Babayo expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General OO Oluyede, NAM, for approving their promotion. He reaffirmed their collective commitment to loyalty, professionalism, and the continued growth of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

He also appreciated the Commandant, Major General Ibrahim, for his exemplary and inclusive leadership, as well as all officers, civilian staff, families, and well-wishers who supported and celebrated with them.

The ceremony featured the presentation of certificates of honour and awards to deserving officers, followed by a group photograph session to commemorate the occasion.
