The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hassan Bala Abubakar, Distinguished Flying Star, on Friday, 10 October 2025, delivered a thought-provoking lecture at the Air Vice Marshal A.O. Ogundana Officers’ Mess, Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Jaji, Kaduna State.
The lecture, titled “From Vision to Reality: Strategic Leadership Insights from the CAS Command Philosophy,” was attended by students of Senior Course 47 and Junior Course 100 of the College.
According to the College Public Relations Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Olumide Victor Olukoya, the lecture aimed to deepen participants’ understanding of strategic leadership principles and effective command philosophy in contemporary military operations.
In his address, Air Marshal Abubakar emphasized the importance of visionary leadership in translating strategic goals into tangible outcomes. He noted that true command effectiveness is rooted not merely in authority but in influence, integrity, and the capacity to inspire subordinates toward collective excellence.
The CAS urged the officers to embrace innovation, discipline, and teamwork in the discharge of their duties. He stressed that effective leadership involves recognizing opportunities even in challenging circumstances and motivating others to achieve shared objectives.
The lecture featured a lively interactive session where the CAS responded to insightful questions from participants on leadership, command philosophy, and inter-service cooperation.
In his closing remarks, the Commandant of AFCSC, Air Vice Marshal Hassan Idris Alhaji, commended the CAS for his inspiring and timely lecture. He stated that the presentation reinforced the College’s mission of developing competent and visionary military leaders. The Commandant further charged the students to apply the lessons learned to their professional conduct and service delivery.
Also in attendance were the Air Officer Commanding Air Training Command; Commandants of the Nigerian Army School of Infantry, Air Force Institute of Technology, Warrant Officers’ Academy, and Military Training Centre; as well as the Deputy Commandant AFCSC, Rear Admiral A.C. Uko, senior officers, directing staff, and administrative personnel.
Highlights of the event included the presentation of a souvenir to the Guest Lecturer by the Commandant, a vote of thanks by Lieutenant Commander S.O. Emiola, and a group photograph to commemorate the occasion.
