Leads Patrols Across the State, Addresses Onitsha Area Command
As part of intensified security preparations ahead of the forthcoming Anambra State Gubernatorial Election, the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc mnips PhD, on Monday, 20th October 2025, embarked on an operational tour and evaluation exercise across Police Area Commands to assess the readiness of officers and men for election duties.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the exercise began with a visit to the Onitsha Area Command, where the Commissioner led high-visibility patrols through major routes and strategic locations within the area. He also addressed officers and men, emphasizing professionalism, neutrality, and strict adherence to the rule of law during election operations.
CP Orutugu charged personnel to remain disciplined and uphold the integrity of the Nigeria Police Force, assuring that the Command is fully prepared to ensure a safe and secure environment before, during, and after the election. He reaffirmed the commitment of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, to guaranteeing free, fair, and credible elections nationwide.
During the patrol, the CP inspected operational formations, police posts, and checkpoints to confirm that officers were alert and adequately equipped. He commended the synergy between the Police and other sister security agencies, as well as the support of community stakeholders in maintaining peace and security.
The Commissioner also urged residents to remain law-abiding and to promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
