BREAKING: COAS Repositions Army, Appoints Senior Officers to Strategic Command and Staff Roles, Brig. Gen Uba Becomes Defence HQ Spokesperson

 

The National Think-Tank Committee (NTTC), National Executive Committee (NEC), and National Working Committee (NWC) of the Action Alliance (AA) have raised serious concerns over what they describe as the persistent bias and disregard for court judgments by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) under its immediate past leadership.

In a communiqué issued after a joint meeting held on October 30, 2025, at the party’s National Secretariat, 7 Femi Otedola Crescent, Gwarimpa, Abuja, the Action Alliance under the leadership of Adekunle Omo-Aje, National Chairman, Action Alliance reviewed its legal and political standing, particularly in relation to INEC’s handling of issues surrounding the party’s leadership recognition.

The party expressed dismay that despite clear judicial pronouncements, including a May 14, 2024, Supreme Court judgment affirming the expulsion of Barrister Kenneth Udeze, INEC continues to act in contradiction to the law.

According to the communiqué, the leadership tussle in the party began in 2019, when Barr. Kenneth Udeze was suspended and later expelled for financial misconduct, high-handedness, and anti-party activities. His expulsion was ratified by the party’s convention on February 14, 2020, which produced the current National Chairman, Aare (Dr.) Adekunle Rufai Omo-Aje.

The party noted that Udeze has since made multiple failed attempts — over 30 times in court — to reclaim leadership of the party through what it described as “backdoor tactics.” The communiqué also recalled that the Supreme Court labeled him “a meddlesome interloper,” affirming that he remains expelled from the party.

Despite these facts, the party accused INEC under Prof. Mahmood Yakubu of continuing to “accord unethical recognition” to Udeze. It cited multiple instances, including INEC’s denial in writing (on March 6, 2024) of ever monitoring the purported “national convention” Udeze claimed to have held in 2021, yet still granting him recognition.

Action Alliance therefore called on the newly appointed INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, to urgently review the situation and correct what it called the entrenched injustices of the past administration.

“We felicitate with Prof. Amupitan on his well-deserved appointment and have confidence in his integrity and fairness,” the communiqué stated.

“However, we urge him to right the wrongs of his predecessor and ensure INEC operates within the bounds of law and justice.”

The party maintained that it remains united under the leadership of Aare (Dr.) Adekunle Rufai Omo-Aje and will continue to uphold democratic principles and internal discipline.

The party thanked the media for their consistent and balanced reportage, urging continued vigilance and professionalism in the defense of democracy.
