Enugu Police Debunk Attack on DIG Frank Mba’s Country Home

The Enugu State Police Command has debunked viral social media reports alleging that the country home of Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) Frank Mba in Ezimo, Udenu Local Government Area, was attacked and that there was an attempt to kidnap his parents or relatives.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Daniel Ndukwe, described the claims as false and misleading, urging the public to disregard the report.

According to the police, the incident that occurred on 18 September 2025, around 8 p.m., was in fact a foiled armed robbery attempt. Police operatives on routine patrol responded swiftly to a distress call and engaged the armed suspects in a gun battle, successfully repelling the attack.

Sadly, a police officer who sustained gunshot wounds during the exchange later died while receiving treatment at the hospital.

“One male suspect has been arrested and is currently assisting the police in a discreet investigation and ongoing manhunt for the fleeing suspects,” Ndukwe said.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, commended the bravery of the operatives and urged them to sustain the momentum in tracking down the remaining criminals. He reassured residents of Enugu State of the Command’s determination to combat violent crimes and ensure public safety.

The Command also cautioned members of the public and social media users against spreading unverified information that could cause unnecessary panic.
