The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) to safeguarding the nation and ensuring peace and stability. He gave the assurance today, September 23, 2025, when he received members of the Northern Bridge Builders Forum on a courtesy visit at the Defence Headquarters, Abuja.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau.

Speaking during the visit, the leader of the delegation, Senator Joel Danlami Ikenya, commended the AFN for its relentless efforts in restoring peace across the country. He particularly praised the military for improving security, which he said has enabled farmers to return to their farmlands, boosting agricultural productivity and supporting food security.

Senator Ikenya also distanced the forum from negative narratives about the military propagated by what he described as “uninformed individuals.”

He urged the armed forces to remain focused and sustain their momentum in the fight against insecurity. Citing the improved safety along the Abuja–Kaduna highway, he noted that the progress achieved is a testament to the military’s effectiveness.

In his response, General Musa expressed gratitude to the forum for its solidarity and encouragement. He reassured Nigerians that the AFN remains resolute in its mission to protect the country and its citizens.

“The Armed Forces of Nigeria will continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of every Nigerian. Your visit is a morale booster for our troops as we continue to build a peaceful and united nation,” General Musa said.

The CDS further commended the forum’s diverse membership, describing them as patriotic Nigerians dedicated to fostering peace, unity, and national cohesion.

The courtesy visit ended with a renewed commitment from both parties to work collaboratively towards a safer and more prosperous Nigeria.
