The Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI (JTF NE OPHK), in collaboration with the British Military Advisory Training Team (BMATT), has graduated 40 officers from the Instructors’ Development Course Batch 3/2025.

The graduation ceremony, held at the Theatre Training School, Maimalari Cantonment, Maiduguri, was presided over by the Theatre Commander, Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, who reaffirmed that training remains the foundation of military professionalism.

General Abubakar stressed that the course was designed to sharpen the skills, knowledge, and mindset of personnel, enabling them to uphold the highest standards of military service.

He added that continuous in-theatre training is central to the command’s strategy, with the course aimed at drawing lessons from past operations to improve future outcomes.

“With the complex security challenges in the North East, these graduates will play a vital role in enhancing operational readiness and countering emerging threats,” he said, while urging them to deploy their newly acquired skills in training others within the theatre.

The Theatre Commander also lauded BMATT for its consistent support in building the counter-terrorism capacity of Nigerian troops, describing the collaboration as crucial to sustaining operational success.

The UK Defence Adviser to Nigeria, Brigadier General Tom Harper, in his remarks, highlighted the importance of patrols, counter-Improvised Explosive Device (C-IED) training, and medical drills taught during the six-week programme. He assured that BMATT remains committed to supporting the Armed Forces of Nigeria through similar initiatives.

Earlier, the Theatre Training Officer, Brigadier General Julius Ogbobe, explained that the course was specially designed to strengthen the instructional competence of selected officers who will, in turn, train other troops across the theatre.

The event ended with the presentation of certificates and awards to outstanding participants, followed by a group photograph.
