OPERATION FANSAN YAMMA: Troops Crush Terrorists, Free 7 Kidnap Victims in North West Blitz

Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, under Operation Fansan Yamma (OPFY), have intensified their onslaught against terrorists in the region, recording significant operational successes within the week under review.

Director Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, disclosed that between 29 July and 3 August 2025, troops acted on credible intelligence to foil terrorist activities in Funtua, Kankara, Kurfi, Chiranchi, Matazu and Malumfashi Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Katsina State, as well as Bakura and Tsafe LGAs of Zamfara State. Operations were also carried out in Arewa Dandi LGA of Kebbi State.

During these engagements, several terrorists were neutralised, two suspects were arrested, and two kidnapped victims were rescued. A wounded victim was also evacuated to a medical facility for treatment.

Similarly, in offensive operations across Anka, Maru and Bukkuyum LGAs of Zamfara State, and Shanga, Birnin Kebbi and Yauri LGAs of Kebbi State, troops eliminated terrorists, arrested two suspects, and rescued two kidnapped victims. In a separate mission in Wurno LGA of Sokoto State, three abducted persons were freed.

Major General Kangye reiterated that the gallant troops, working in synergy with other security agencies and hybrid forces, remain resolute in restoring peace and security across all troubled areas in the North West and beyond.
