Troops Foil N73m Oil Theft, Arrest Suspects in South-South, South-East Offensives

In a renewed push against economic sabotage and violent crimes, troops of Operation DELTA SAFE have thwarted oil theft worth over ₦73,289,510 in the South-South region.

Director, Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, disclosed that the operation led to the recovery of 63,824 litres of stolen crude oil and 11,190 litres of illegally refined DPK, alongside the destruction of 8 crude oil cooking ovens, 14 dugout pits, 4 illegal refining sites, and other tools of illicit trade. 

Troops also seized boats, storage tanks, vehicles, motorcycles, and arrested nine suspects, recovering assorted arms, ammunition, and explosives.

In a related offensive, troops neutralised a kidnapper during a gun battle in Delta State, recovering weapons, ammunition, and ₦3.6 million cash.

Meanwhile, in the South-East theatre, Operation UDO KA troops arrested four suspected IPOB/ESN members and a kidnapper in Enugu, Abia, and Anambra States, seizing weapons, ammunition, and a vehicle.

Maj Gen Kangye reaffirmed the military’s resolve, stressing that joint forces, in collaboration with other security agencies and hybrid forces, will sustain pressure until peace and security are restored nationwide.
