The Nigerian Army Cyber Warfare Command (NACWC) has a new leader as Major General Mohammed Tanimu Abdullahi on Friday, August 22, 2025, assumed duty as the 6th Commander of the specialized formation in Abuja.

The change of command ceremony, held at the NACWC Headquarters, featured the formal signing of handing and taking over notes, the decoration of Major General Abdullahi with the Command’s insignia, and the presentation of the new Command flag, which was subsequently hoisted at the Quarter Guard to symbolize the beginning of a new era.

Captain Moses Yare, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, NACWC, confirmed the development in a statement issued to newsmen

In his valedictory remarks, the outgoing Commander, Major General Ayannuga, expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen Olufemi Oluyede, and to God for the opportunity to serve.

He commended the officers, soldiers, and civilian staff of the Command for their dedication and urged them to extend the same support to his successor.

Major General Abdullahi, now at the helm, is expected to consolidate on the achievements of his predecessor while charting a new strategic direction for the NACWC, a Command central to Nigeria’s cybersecurity and digital defence operations.
