Nigeria Foreign Affairs Ministry Mourns the Demise of Chargé d’Affaires Zainab Joy Momodu

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced with deep sorrow the sudden demise of Mrs. Zainab Joy Momodu, Acting Head of Mission (Chargé d’Affaires ad interim) at the Embassy of Nigeria in Guinea-Bissau. 

According to the Ministrys Spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfe, Mrs. Momodu passed away on Monday, July 7, 2025, at the Military Hospital in Bissau after a brief illness.

A Dedicated Career Diplomat

Mrs. Momodu joined the Nigerian Foreign Service in 2010 and was a member of the 20th Regular Course of the Foreign Service Academy. Throughout her career, she served Nigeria with distinction, commitment, and professionalism in various capacities.

A Great Loss

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs mourns the loss of a dedicated and hardworking diplomat who made significant contributions to the nation’s diplomatic efforts. Her untimely death is a great loss to the Ministry, the diplomatic community, and the nation at large.
