LCBC and MNJTF Mourn the Passing of Former President Buhari, Hail His Legacy of Regional Security and Integration

The Executive Secretary of the Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC) and Head of Mission of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), Ambassador Mamman Nuhu, has extended heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of Nigeria, as well as to the family of the late former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari.

In a condolence message issued by the Chief Military Public Information Officer of MNJTF, Lt. Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, Ambassador Nuhu described the late President Buhari as a visionary leader whose unwavering dedication to regional cooperation, security, and development significantly shaped the Lake Chad Basin.

Ambassador Nuhu highlighted the late President’s pivotal role in revitalizing the Multinational Joint Task Force, reinforcing regional collaboration in the fight against Boko Haram and other terrorist threats. He noted that President Buhari’s strong support for MNJTF operations was instrumental in fostering peace and stability in the region.

He further praised the former President's tireless advocacy for the restoration of Lake Chad and his global call for international solidarity. According to him, President Buhari’s efforts reflected a deep commitment to improving the livelihoods of communities across the Lake Chad Basin and building a resilient, secure future.

“President Buhari was a true statesman whose legacy in peacebuilding, regional integration, and leadership will continue to inspire Nigeria and the entire Lake Chad region,” Ambassador Nuhu said.

In this moment of mourning, the LCBC and MNJTF stand in solidarity with the people of Nigeria to honour the memory of a distinguished leader. Ambassador Nuhu prayed that Almighty Allah (SWT) forgives his shortcomings, accepts his good deeds, and grants him eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdausi.
