Acting on the President directive for the Armed Forces engaging actively in farming initiatives, the Nigerian Navy has taken a strategic move toward boosting agricultural innovation and enhancing national food security with the inauguration of its first-ever precision agriculture technology farm.
This directive aims to address some critical issues confronting our nation the persistent conflicts between herders and farmers, banditry and kidnapping and the urgent need to boost our food security
The historic launch of the Admiralty Integrated Farms Limited Coordination Centre and the unveiling of new ADIFAL logo took place today, Wednesday, 25 June 2025, at the Admiralty Event Centre, Asokoro, Abuja.
In his remarks, the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, ably represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans, Rear Admiral Ibrahim Dewu said today's occasion marks a significant milestone in Nigerian Navy collective effort to contribute meaningfully to the nation's development, which is in line with the President's visionary directive.
"It is heartwarming to see our naval personnel taking up this challenge with dedication and patriotism, exemplifying the spirit of service and commitment that defines our Armed Forces. He congratulated the management and all officers and men working in Admiralty Integrated Farms Limited.
"Your efforts and dedication are commendable and I encourage you to continue with the vigor and resolve to meet the lofty goals set before us. Let us leverage our collective expertise and wealth of experience within our ranks with cutting-edge Information Technology solutions, to enhance productivity, transparency and sustainability in our farming activities." he added
The Naval Chief stressed that the initiative underscores the importance of civil-military cooperation and as we move forward, I urge us all to foster a spirit of collaboration and understanding with our civilian counterparts.
"Our interactions should be fair, respectful and rooted in the shared goal of national development. Civil-military synergy is crucial in achieving sustainable solutions, especially, in areas such as agriculture where the benefits extend across all facets of the society.
He reiterated that the success of Admiralty Integrated Farms Limited hinges on collective resolve and unwavering commitment. "Your efforts will not only contribute to food sufficiency but will also promote peace and stability in our communities and the entire country." he said
Also speaking at the event, Rear Admiral Julius Nwagu, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of ADIFAL, noted that the establishment of the farm is a direct response to the Presidential directive encouraging military engagement in agriculture.
He emphasized that the initiative is powered by Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT), allowing for real-time insight and intelligent decision-making in modern farming operations.
