13 Suspects Arrested For the Death of Naval Officer in Kaduna

No fewer than 13 suspects have been arrrested by the Kaduna State Police Command in connection with the murder of a naval officer, Lt. Commodore M. Buba, who was killed in the early hours of Sunday in the Kawo area of Kaduna.

According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, the arrests were made during a raid in Kawo following the tragic incident. The suspects were reportedly found in possession of dangerous weapons.

Reports say, Lt. Commodore Buba, a senior course student at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, was attacked and fatally stabbed at about 5:20 a.m. on Sunday near the Kawo flyover, shortly after experiencing a flat tyre while on his way from Jaji.

“While attempting to change his tyre, an unknown assailant approached and demanded for his GSM phone. When the officer refused and challenged him, the attacker stabbed him in the chest with a locally-made knife,” the police spokesperson said.

Eyewitnesses at the scene reportedly overpowered the suspect, who was lynched while trying to flee.

The officer was rushed to Manaal Hospital, where he was confirmed dead on arrival. His body has since been deposited at the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna.

The police have launched further investigations to determine the involvement of the arrested suspects and ensure justice is served.
