In January 2025, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) Intelligence Response Team (IRT) conducted a number of operations, including anti-terrorism, anti-kidnapping, and anti-human trafficking operations. It achieved several successes, including the arrest of a kidnapping gang, gunrunners and the rescue of kidnapped victims.
In several operations across the country, the Nigeria Police Force recorded the arrest of 237 armed robbery suspects, 162 kidnapping suspects, 240 Murder/homicide suspects, 53 suspects connected with the unlawful possession of prohibited firearms, 130 rape suspects, 123 suspected cultists and recovery of various firearms, 862 ammunition of various calibers. The Force was also able to recover 84 stolen vehicles and rescue 387 victims of kidnapping.
Anti-terrorism operations: The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) Intelligence Response Team (IRT) on January 24, 2025, operatives from the Command's tactical Unit located a terrorist hideout in a forest in Ihube, Okigwe LGA.
Anti-kidnapping operations: On January 4, 2025, operatives from the Imo State Command rescued four kidnapped hostages. On January 25, 2025, kidnappers abducted victims, but a covert operation by the Ogun State Command rescued the victims and neutralized five gang members.
Anti-human trafficking operations: On January 31, 2025, operatives from the Kaduna State Command rescued victims of human trafficking and arrested three suspects.
These achievements will remain on record as testaments of the unyielding resolve and dedication of the Nigeria Police Force towards its primary duty of protecting lives and property.
