The increase in the tempo of activities by the Department of State Services (DSS), in the Oil rich Niger Delta region has led to the recovery of a wooden barge conveying about 37,000 barrels of stolen crude oil.
Apart from the recovery, Operatives of the DSS also arrested five of the suspected oil thieves in Delta State are currently assisting the secret police in further investigation.
The source said; “Operatives of Delta State Command of the DSS intercepted a wooden barge containing about 37,000 barrels of crude oil and also arrested five suspects connected to the incident who are being investigated”.
This was as it was also gathered that the DSS based on credible intelligence and collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), and other sister security agencies on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, descended heavily on members of the deadly Boko Haram terrorists and bandits that invaded and attacked Bassa-Kukoki Village in Allawa district of Shiroro Local Government of Niger State on Wednesday.
Several terrorists and bandits were killed during the operation just as three members of the community were killed by some of the fleeing terrorists.
It was further gathered that the operation recorded no single casualty on the part of the personnel of the DSS that were given aerial cover by the Nigerian Air Force.
It was also gathered that the DSS under a new leadership is poised to collaborate with sister security agencies to frontally tackle and eliminate threats to national security thus, not ready to allow terrorists and other mercenaries to cause any mayhem in any part of the country.
