Nigeria Police Record Massive Success: 2,726 Arrests, 207 Rescues, 150 Firearms Recovered in 30 Days

... As IGP reiterates full commitment to the achievement of Peace

The Nigeria Police Force in the span of one month, has arrested 31 armed robbery suspects, 419 kidnappers, 318 Murder/Homicide suspects, and 47 unlawful possession of Firearm suspects. The Force also arrested 190 suspects for sexual-related offences, 173 suspects arrested for cultism, and 1548 suspects were arrested for other various crimes. 

The total number of firearms recovered stands at 150, the total number of 1788 ammunition recovered, 122 vehicles recovered and 207 rescued kidnapped victims.

On the recent crime-fighting achievements, Force PRO, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said operatives of the Nigeria Police Force around the country have made several outstanding achievements in the period under review, which will be summarily highlighted.

"The first is the foiled kidnapping and rescue of eleven kidnapped victims at kwari village outskirt of jibia township in katsina: at about 0900hrs on the 21st of july, 2024, armed bandits in their numbers wielding dangerous weapons attacked and kidnapped innocent villagers while working in their farms at kwari village outskirt of jibia township. 

The police mobilized an apc patrol team, military cwc and vigilante to the scene and tactically engaged them in a fierce gun duel which forced the bandits to abandon their mission and escaped into the forest. eleven victims were rescued and rushed to general hospital jibia. 

Efforts are still ongoing to apprehend the bandits who are still at large kidnapping and rescue of kidnap victim: on 20/07/2024 at about 2100hrs one architect sunday etimbuk idiong 'm' of 78 Itu road Uyo Alwa bom state reported that he was lured by kidnappers to obosi idemili north lga anambra state from akwa ibom state through phone call for a building project. 

He then contacted his friend one goodness friday 'f" to accompany him. on arrival to onitsha the kidnappers directed him to nkpor roundabout where they were picked up and taken to an empty land opposite regime gas station odume obosi idimili north lga where other members of the gang suddenly came out from the bush to kidnap them. 

The complainant had managed to escape but his friend had fallen into the hands of the kidnappers. upon receipt of information, the special anti cultism squad mobilised into the bush and the kidnappers fled upon sight. the victim was rescued and efforts are still ongoing to apprehend the fleeing kidnappers.

This decisive action underscores the Police Force's relentless efforts to combat crime and bring perpetrators to justice. The suspects, who were apprehended and have equally confessed to the commission of various offences ranging from armed robbery to kidnapping, were presented to the media and the general public, sending a clear message that criminal activities will not be tolerated.

One of the significant cases is that of one Hauwa Yusuf ‘F’ 30 years of Dutsin-Ma LGA of Katsina State, who was intercepted while in transit from Lafia, Nasarawa State to Katsina State, inside a Sienna Bus along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway. 

Upon interception, a search was conducted and one AK-47 Rifle without breach Number and Four AK magazines concealed inside a white Sack of Garri were recovered from the suspect. During the interrogation, the Suspect confessed that she was delivering the weapons at the behest of a notorious bandit terrorizing Katsina State. 

The Inspector General of Police has reiterated the Police Force's dedication to protecting the lives and property of all Nigerian citizens. This parade serves as a testament to the ongoing work being done to maintain law and order and instil a sense of security within our communities.
