Bayelsa Gubernatorial Elections: Remain Decisive And Professional, Commander Charges Troops

... As 16 Brigade Nigerian Army Conducts 10km Route March

The Commander 16 Brigade Nigerian Army/ Sector 2 Joint Task Force (South - South) Operation DELTA SAFE, Brigadier General Sadisu Yakasai, has charged troops and personnel of other security agencies in Bayelsa State to remain professional and decisive in the discharge of their duties during the forthcoming gubernatorial elections in Bayelsa State. 

The Brigade Commander gave the charge during a joint inter-agency 10km  route march which took place recently on Thursday, 3 November 2023 in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.

In his remarks, Brigadier General Yakasai noted that preparations were in top gear for the successful conduct of the forthcoming gubernatorial elections, urging troops to remain professional in the execution of the respective roles before, during  and after the elections. 

He further stated that the route march was organized to clearly display the readiness of Security agencies to ensure a hitch - free election in the State.

The Commander also disclosed that the Exercise was executed as part of precursor activities by the Brigade to reassure the locals and boost their confidence in the capability of security forces within Bayelsa State to provide the needed security before, during, and after the elections.

It was also aimed at displaying jointness amongst security personnel as well as cementing the already existing synergy between the members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria and other security agencies within the State.

Notably, the route march featured troops of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, the Nigerian Police Force, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Department of State Security, Federal Road Safety Corps, Nigerian Correctional Services and National Drug Law Enforcement Agency. Others include the Federal Fire Service and Nigeria Immigration Service, amongst others.
