The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in its usual routine, has approved the 14th October, 2023; between 8.30am to 2.30pm as time for the conducts of Mock Accreditation of Voters in Kogi, Bayelsa and Imo States respectively for the forthcoming off-cycle election.

In a press statement released on Monday in Abuja by the Commission National Commissioner & Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, said, it has become imperative to do this routine so as to make voters in this three States that are having election conversant with the process of the election and to also use it as a test run for the said election.

According to the statement, “As was the case in recent off-cycle Governorship elections, the Commission will conduct a mock accreditation using the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) and upload of polling units results to the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV). The test run will take place simultaneously in the three States on Saturday 14th October 2023 from 8.30am to 2.30pm.

“A maximum of three polling units in each Senatorial District have been identified across each of the three States, covering a total of nine Senatorial District and 27 polling units. Lessons learnt from the exercise will be taken into consideration in ensuring a seamless process on Election Day.

“Full details of the polling units, including their locations by Local Government Area (LGA), Registration Area (RA)/Ward, Delimitation Code and number of registered voters have been uploaded to our website and social media platforms.

“The Commission appeals to registered voters in the selected polling units to turn up with their Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) for the exercise.

“The public is advised that this is strictly a test accreditation exercise and not the actual election”, it said.

Where to conduct the Mock Accreditation in Kogi are: “Kogi West Senatorial District”, the polling units to be use are: Lokoja Local Government, that is Lokoja A, registration area, “Crowther Memorial Sabongari polling unit, with 2,055 total number of registered voters; Kabba/Bunu registration Area of Asuta, that is St. Paul School, Kabba polling unit with 1,116 total number of registered voters and Yagba East local government registration Area of Itedo and Itedo Irunda open space polling unit with 1,002 numbers of registered voters.

Others are: Kogi Central Senatorial District: that is Ogaminana registration center in Adavi Local Government Area, L.G.E.A. School Ogaminana Prem. Sec 1, with the total number of 635 registered voters, Ganaja Township Registered Area in Ajaokuta L.G.A. the polling unit is LGEA Primary School Ganaja Village with the total number of 13,425 registered voters and Obangede Uhodo in Okehi L.G.A. the polling unit is opposite FCE Campus 1 with the total number of 1,663 registered voters.

The rest are: Kogi East Senatorial District, that is, Ayegba registration center in Dekina L.G.A. the polling unit is Ajetacji (opp Abuchagi’s house) with the total number of 2,618 registered voters. Ukwaja registration center in Idah L.G.A., Open space Ofiji 1 polling unit with 1,319 total number of registered voters. And Abejukolo 1 registration center in Omala L.G.A. that is Central School Abejukolo olomala iv polling unit with 881 total number of registered voters.
