The President, of the Nigerian Army Officers' Wives Association (NAOWA), Mrs Mariya Abiodun Lagbaja has attributed many of the association's achievements to the Nigerian Army, noting that NAOWA's activities, dreams and aspirations cannot be actualized without the support of the noble organisation.
Mrs Mariya Abiodun Lagbaja disclosed this when she led the National Executives and Members of NAOWA on a courtesy visit to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja today, 11th September, 2023 at Army Headquarters, Abuja to formally congratulate him, on his well-deserved appointment as the 23rd Chief of Army Staff.
In her remarks, the NAOWA President affirmed that many successes recorded by NAOWA through the years were achieved through the unwavering support of the Nigerian Army.
She said the purpose of the visit is also aimed at consolidating the already existing relationship between NAOWA and the Nigerian Army.
Mrs Lagbaja also emphasised that, while they continue to appreciate the tremendous support of the Nigerian Army, she assured of NAOWA's loyalty and support, through prayers and keeping the home front while they are out there discharging their national assignment.
The video reportIn a bid aimed at preserving the rich legacies of NAOWA's Past Leaders and also advancing the cause of the noble Association, Mrs Lagbaja said having assessed the NAOWA facilities and legacies which were established by past NAOWA Leaders her target goals include the sustenance and continuous improvement of NAOWA facilities, improving the management system of NAOWA assets, as well as ensuring best and structured practices in all NAOWA Institutions.
Revealing her vision statement for NAOWA which can be summarized as "Sustaining Legacies through Unwavering Commitment to Unity and Service for the betterment of humanity," she appealed to the Chief of Army Staff, to come to the aid of NAOWA in completing the abandoned NAOWA Guest House.
She promised to continue to bring other demands to COAS' attention in due course, while they continue to appreciate the tremendous support of the Nigerian Army
In his remarks, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja thanked the President of NAOWA and her entourage promised to complete the abandoned structure designed for the NAOWA Guest House to accommodate members of the Association travelling to Abuja for official activities purpose.
The army Chief therefore commended the NAOWA for their positive impact on education, vocational training humanitarian activities and for projecting the image of the Nigerian Army positively.
The Chief of Army Staff also commended the leadership of Mrs. Mariya Lagbaja, piloting an Association driven by compassion and commitment to the well-being of the barracks community and to enhancing the lives of NAOWA and NASWA Members with numerous programmes to support Widows, Orphans, and less privileged persons within and outside the barracks community over the years.
