Army Chief Commissions Historical Park to Immortalise Deserving Personnel

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya has commissioned a monument of design "Faruk Yahaya Historical Park" to commemorate and preserve history of retired and serving Nigerian Army officers and soldiers including those who paid the supreme sacrifice in service to country.

The Commissioning of the Park took place today 3 April, 2023 a natural extension of the Nigerian Army museum situated at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Abuja.

Speaking at the commissioning of the remarkable project, the Military Secretary, Army, Major General Jamal Abusalam said the park is design to immortalize three categories of deserving Nigerian Army NA personnel by having their names inscribed on specially design platforms.

"First, personnel who paid Supreme sacrifices to Nigeria during campaigns and other operational engagements. 

"Second, Nigerian Army officers who attained the rank of Major General and above as well as soldiers who attained the Warrant Officers Class One and Army Warrant officer being the pinnacle of their career. 

"And the third category is the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Staff of the NA extraction, a recognition of their exemplary leadership," he noted.

The Chief of Army Staff,  Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya has undertaken a larger strive the infrastructural development to uphold the good image of the Nigerian Army, thus, this project is testimony to several other Commission infrastructure projects in Nigerian Army under COAS initiatives.

These strives has no major boasted the morale of Army personnel in the face of the challenges of combating security in Nigeria. 

It is on this prims that the COAS conceived the uncommon idea of the NA to have monument in Abuja to Honour army personnel that have served velienty.

Accordingly the Army HQ department of military secretary constructed this remarkable edifice "Christened Faruk Yahaya Historical Park".

A self sustaining, all weather facility that accommodate brick and mental platforms fitted with plaques, inscribe with names, pictures and profiles of NA officers and Soldiers.

These platforms are design to hold 10,000 names, the park also have special monument for the deceased.The park will improve the ambience of Manilla barrack, NA Resource Center and his Environs.

As an extension of NA museum, the park will provide services of guarded towards for NA personnel, tourist and visitors from other Armies to further research to NA history.
