Nigerian Army Honours 26 Officers For Academic Excellence As NDLEA Chairman Marwa Bags Army TRADOC Award

....as Infantry Corps  won Chief of Training Award

The Nigerian Army has honoured 26 of its officers who excelled in academic  activities at various examination  conducted by the Training and Doctrine (TRADOC) of the Nigerian Army  for  the year 2022. 

The Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army Merit Award 2022 ceremony, which tok place at Army HQ Command Officers Mess 1, Asokoro Abuja on Thursday 1st December 2022 had the Chief of Army Staff,  NDLEA Chairman, Principal senior officers of the Nigerian Army and some other dignitaries in attendance.

The Awards of various categories ranging from Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Commendation Award for Excellence,  Lieutenant- Captain Promotion Examination and Awards for Best Candidates Per Subject. 

Others are Captain to Major practical Promotion Examination among others. The Infantry Corps also  received award of best formation after beating the Nigerian Army Corps of Military Engineers and Nigerian Army Armoured Corps who came second and third respectively. 

Speaking at the well attended occasion, the Special Guest of Honour,  the COAS Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya in his remarks commended the Commander TRADOC, Major General Stevenson Olabanji for his steadfast and doggedness in developing necessary academics  which he said encourages healthy academic competitions among officers of the Nigerian Army. 

He added that rewards and punishment is essential key to human development.  "Once you put in place rewards and punishment mechanism, it encourages healthy competitions and no one will love to be found in the negative side", he said.

COAS commended TRADOC  founding father for laying solid foundations for the institution to strive even as he thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for his Strategic directives and for providing the Nigerian Army with all the needed funds to execute its constitutional roles. 

In addition, the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), was also presented with a Special Recognition Award by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.Gen. Farouk Yahaya.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Commander TRADOC said the Merit Award was conceptualised to reward excellence which he described as key driver to success. 

He said the inclusion of the NA Corps in this year's awards is to encourage various NA Corps to take ownership and responsibility in the training and career development of officers of the Nigerian Army. 

He added that the award is a means of promoting and enhancing the overall administrative efficient.  He thanked the COAS for his support to TRADOC NA. 

Dignitaries that graced the occasion include the Chairman Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agency,  Brigadier General Buba Marwa(rtd), pioneer Commander TRADOC, Maj Gen GO Ejiga(Rtd)Principal Staff Officers from Army Headquarters and TRADOC, Corps and field  Commanders among others. 

Highlights of the event was the presentation of Awards and group photograph.
