Nigeria, Pakistan Hold Fourth-Round Joint Military Staff Talks to Build Up Defence Bond

As part of efforts to strengthen the existing Defence collaboration agreement between the Armed Forces of Nigeria and Armed Forces of Pakistan, both countries have on Monday began the Fourth-Round Nigeria - Pakistan Joint Military Staff Talks to Build Up bond between them.

The Nigerian Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor disclosed this at a press briefing to open the Fourth-Round Nigeria - Pakistan Joint Military Staff Talks from 29 November to 1 December 2022 at Defence Headquarters in Abuja.

General Irabor who was represented by the Director Policy, Defence Headquarters, Major General Usman Yusuf noted that the focus of the Forum was to build on what the two armed forces had done over the years.

The CDS said that “issues of development and advancement of both Armed Forces, both in regional and global peace are one of the major issues to look into”.

“For the next three days, we will be discussing issues that concern the development and advancement of the armed forces of the two countries, both on regional and global issues,” he said. 

In his remarks, the head of Pakistan Armed Forces Delegation, Major General Majid Jahangir noted that both countries have enjoyed a broad based relationship since the inceptions in all domains.

General Jahangir said the event would be another stepping stone towards strengthening and expanding the existing cooperation between the two countries.

He therefore called for the expansion of the existing collaboration with their Nigerian counterpart to boost the bond between the two countries.

The Head of the delegation noted that Pakistan Armed Forces recognise, appreciate and respect the professionalism of the Nigeria Armed Forces and are keen to expand the existing bond further.
