Defence Chief, Army Chief Assure Nigerians of Conducive Environment During 2023 Elections... To Deploy More Gun Trucks To Frontlines

The Chief of Defence Staff General Lucky Irabor has assured Nigerians that the 2023 General elections will be conducted peacefully in the country.

General Irabor said this while inaugurating some projects executed by the OPSH Commandant, Major General Ibrahim Ali at the headquarters of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), a multi-security task force maintaining peace and harmony in North West snd North Central.

The Defence Chief said the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian police were working in synergy to provide a peaceful atmosphere for the upcoming elections.

He said, “We are working with the police, which is leading the agency for the conduct of the election. The operational activities that we are conducting will also add up to the ambience for the peaceful conduct of the exercise. The whole world is looking up to us. I am quite sure that the exercise is going to be a good one. For us in the army, it will help us to deepen the democratic process and we will continue to sustain the effort.”

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, the CDS expressed satisfaction with the projects executed. General Irabor stressed that the projects would boost the morale of troops and strengthen their commitment to the fight against insecurity in the Joint Operation Area.

The Chief of Defence Staff disclosed that the visit to OPSH would motivate the personnel and troops across other Theatre of Operations in improving their operational effectiveness and professional conduct. He further lauded the giant strides of the Commander and the resolve to continually improve the welfare of troops under his command.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya has said more gun trucks will be deployed to various theaters of operations for effective use in ongoing campaigns against terrorists

General Yahaya made this known at the Army Artillery Corps Arnold training exercise in Kachia, Kaduna State.

The Chief of Army staff was the special guest of honor at the Nigerian Army Corps of artillery’s annual field training exercise Vulcan glow 8.

The exercise involved troops of formations competing in various aspects of artillery tactics, techniques and procedures.

It is the highest level of training by the Corp where their personnel and assets guns and other resources are deployed and test-fired.

Gun trucks that were spoilt have now been repaired and the chief says they will be deployed to various theaters to be used in the fight against adversaries.

This is the second time in less than a month that the chief will reassure citizens of the Army’s commitment to ensure a conducive environment for the conduct of the 2023 general elections.

The Chief of Army staff stated that as elections are fast approaching, troops are intensifying efforts with operations which are yielding results.

General Yahaya is convinced that the deployment of these platforms, skills and competencies will go a long way to provide peace and Security in the country.
