Terrorists killed no fewer than seven local farmers, including the Chief Imam of Jumuat Mosque in Faru identified as Malam Sani Akwala, on Saturday, May 14 at Dajin Danau, Faru village of Maradun Local Government Area (LGA) of Zamfara State, Northwest Nigeria.
The attack came at about 12:45 p.m. (WAT) when about 30 armed terrorists stormed farms located at Faru, which is less than a kilometre away from Faru township.
The gang met the farmers while they were clearing bush areas at their various farmlands. On sighting them, some of the farmers ran for their lives.

Saidu Bala Faru, an eyewitness who narrowly escaped death told HumAngle that, “we were at our respective farmlands for various farming activities because it heavily rained yesterday [Friday], suddenly this armed terror group started shooting at our people.
“Among the seven farmers killed during the attack are Sani Abdullahi, Muhammad Mani Na-Umma, Mala, Sani Na-Akwala, and Muhammad Lauwali Yar-Tusgi.”
“All the seven innocent people killed were heads of households … leaving behind over 49 children as orphans stranded in the village,” Adnan Katara, another farmer, said.
Ibrahim Isah further told HumAngle that the gang has been rampaging villages under Faru ward demanding ransom for farming activities in the areas.
In a letter written by the terror group and delivered to the village head, the terrorists said “no farming activities would take place within the area in this year’s farming season except certain agreement is reached for farming levy.”
The terror group has been going round the farmlands in order to ensure compliance with their directive,” Isah added.
He lamented that it would be difficult for the farmers this season and called on authorities to urgently do something.
Efforts to get comments from the spokesperson of Zamfara State Police Command, SP Mohammed Shehu, failed as he could not be reached on phone.
