The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya on Tuesday has inspected some recovered weapons by troops of Sector 1 Operation HADIN KAI.

The recovered items include; personal rifles, Support Weapons and magazines. Others also include; 1 Eagle Main Battle Tank, One 155mm Bofor Artillery Gun, One 122mm Gun, Two 105mm Guns, 1 MOWAG Armoured Personnel Carrier, 1 VBL, 1 spartan Mines Resistance Anti-Ambu Patrol Vehicle, 1 Gun Truck, 1 Canter Truck, 2 AK 47 riffles and 1 AK 74 riffle.

Also captured were several medical equipment and IED making materials. A very remarkable achievement in the SAMBISA operation was the discovery of the wreckage site of the NAF aircraft that crashed in March 2021.

At the end of the inspection, the COAS commended the Theatre Commander Joint Task Force North East OPHK Major General Christopher Musa, Unit and Formation Commanders as well as troops of OPHK.

He also urged them not to relent in their effort in the fight against the marauding elements of insurgents in the North East Region.

According to the COAS, "when you are commended, you are also challenged to do more. And when you have set a record, then you have set a standard that you cannot go below". He also stated that to whom much is given, much is expected.

As part of the activities to mark the operational visit, the COAS was equally briefed on the current situation of the ongoing operations DESERT SANITY and LAKE SANITY and he used the opportunity to appreciate President Muhammdu Buhari for his continuous support and also thanked the Minister of Defence, Chief of Defence Staff and other Service Chiefs for their support and collaborative efforts in the fight against the insurgents.
