33 Artillery Brigade Wins 2022 Inter-Brigade Corporal and Below Competition in Bauchi

The 33 Artillery Brigade Nigerian Army (NA) team emerged the overall winner of the just concluded 3 Division Inter-Brigade Corporal and Below Competition 2022 hosted by the 33 Brigade in Bauchi from 28 Mar - 1 Apr 2022.

The Special Guest of Honour, His Excellency the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Mohammed represented by the Secretary to the State Government Barrister Ibrahim Mohammed Kashim expressed delight for being part of the event. 

He further stated that he has witnessed a great deal of passion, doggedness, dexterity, skill and professionalism exhibited by all participants. He urged the participants to apply what they have learnt to their duties in order to improve the security of the country. 

Earlier, the Chief Host, the General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army/Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN, Major General IS Ali stated that the competition was aimed at training personnel of the rank of Corporal and below to improve their leadership traits, organizational abilities, endurance, teamwork and inculcating initiatives in them to promote professionalism. 

The GOC expressed optimism that the competition has inspired the participants and challenged their spirit of sportsmanship and comradeship. He is confident that troops would apply key lessons learnt during the competition in the conduct of operations.

The Competition which was a 4-day event featured; Drill, Weapon Handling, Combat Swimming, Obstacle Crossing, 10km Combat Race as well as Map Reading and Navigation events. 

At the end of the competition, 33 Artillery Brigade emerged first position by winning 4 trophies, the 43 Engineer Brigade came second, third position was 3 Division Garrison, fourth position was 53 Signal Brigade. 23 Brigade and 6 Brigade emerged 5th and 6th positions respectively.

In another development, the GOC, Maj Gen IS Ali commissioned 13 renovated Corporal and Below Quarters, as well as a borehole for the provision of water at the Corporal and Below Quarters in Shadawanka Barracks. 

The renovated accommodation undertaken by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen F Yahaya and the borehole executed by the Comd 33 Brigade, Brig Gen JO Adeyemo were aimed at improving the quality of lives of the troops and their families
