Member representing Ondo East and West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Dr. Peter Abiola Makinde on Wednesday, 9th March, 2022 has mobilized his Constituents in a public hearing on the Bill for an act to Establish the Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences, Ondo City, Ondo State and for other Related Matters H.B. 1770).
Makinde in his presentation during the public hearing argued that: " the move is to address the medical workforce shortage the country is experiencing when compared to our increasing population of over 200 million.
"This shortage has created unevenness in the state, region and the country at large. The future demands for more medical practitioners and extensive medical research", he said.
The Planning Committee for the proposed Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences, Ondo City, Ondo State is chaired by His Imperial Majesty, Oba Dr Victor Adesimbo Ademefun Kiladejo, CFR Jilo 111, The Osemawe and Paramount Ruler of Ondo Kingdom.
Other members are, The Lisa of Ondo Kingdom High Chief Sir. Simeon Oguntimehin, OON, The Sasere of Ondo Kingdom High Chief Johnson Adeduro, MBSS (West Germany); MD (West Germany), Facharzt (FAF Paed, West Germany), FWAP, FMC Paed, FCAI, KSC Prof. Dr. med Philip Abiodun, an Educationist and Public Administrator Prof. Ronke Ogunmakin, and the Gbagenha of Oke Otunba, Ondo Kingdom Otunba Dr Seyi Roberts, MBBS, FMCP, FWACP, Certificate in Neurology (Harvard) Consultant Physician and Neurologist.

Hon. Dr. Peter Abiola Makinde who sponsored the Bill told SpyeNews that the Bill enjoyed the favour of the House Committee on Health Institutions.
