Commander Guards Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier Gen Mohammed Takuti Usman has reiterated the Brigade’s commitment towards ensuring the security and Defence of International Military Sport Council (CISM), Organisation of Military Sports in Africa (OSMA) sporting activities in the Federal Capital, assuring that troops of the Brigade remain proactive in ensuring the safety of all athletes, foreigners and citizens.
Brigadier Gen Usman gave the assurance when he received the President of International Military Sport Council (CISM), Brigadier General Herve Piriccillo, accompanied by Major Delphine Viard and other members of OSMA led by its President Organisation of Military Sports in Africa (OSMA), Maj Gen Maikano Abdullahi in his office at the Aguyi Ironsi Cantonment, Asokoro Abuja on Wednesday February, 2022.
Welcoming the CISM President, the Commander reassured him of total support in terms of security and sporting facilities within the Guards Brigade Headquarters all OSMA Games.
"The 1st CDS/OSMA Sahel Games was held inside at the Aguyi Ironsi Cantonment, Asokoro Abuja and our troops gave maximum security to all participants", he said.
Responding, President of International Military Sport Council (CISM), Brigadier General Herve Piriccillo thanked Commander Guards Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier Gen Mohammed Takuti Usman for discharging his constitutional duties professionally during the last Sahel Games in Nigeria.
General Piriccillo said, CISM is to contribute to the security of tphe world through Sports which also explains the motto of the Organisation to mean “Friendship through Sports”.
Earlier in his remark, President, Organisation of Military Sports in Africa (OSMA) who also double as Vice President CISM, Major General Maikano Abdullahi commended Brigadier Gen Mohammed Takuti Usman for sustaining the professional standard of Guards Brigade.
General Abdullahi who recall how he served on Guards Brigade for 8years as a Captain said, his first Sahel Games was in keeping with the promise he made during his campaign to become the president of OSMA.
He also charged all officers to learn another International language like French aside English Language for better understanding about people and communities during the deployment years.
The highlight of the visit was the exchange of souvenirs, and tour to all Sport facilities led by Lt Odukoya. The event was well attended by some management staff of Guards Brigade Nigerian Army and OSMA/CISM.
Accompanying the CISM President during the visit are the OSMA President who also double as CISM Vice president West Africa, Maj Gen Maikano Abdullahi, OSMA Coordinator and Secretary Wing Commander Ado Mohammed, Lt Commander Funmi Fapectus, Group Captain Garuba, Miss Olayemi Esan OSMA Media Parrner Nigeria and Others.
