President Muhammadu Buhari has commended the Nigerian Army on good media relations that has been in practice in recent times which has encouraged professional disposition and the civil-military relations.
The President gave this commendation when declaring open the 2021 the Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference at Army Headquarters Command Officers Mess, Asokoro, Abuja on Monday.
Buhari who was represented by the Chief of Defence Staff General Lucky Irabor said, media Operations are important aspect of warfare that will make or mar the war efforts.
"Don't be distracted by the actions of few persons orchestrating media reportage and fake news against the Nigerian Army and military on social media.
"As you review the activites of of year 2021 and make projection for year 2022, is my desire that the focus on leveraging the game of the operational and training activities can move Nigerian Army to New professionalism", he added.
President Buhari urged the Nigerian Army to remain resolute as their discharged your constitutional responsibilities.
In this regard, President Buhari appealed the Nigerian Army and other services to continuing to improve on her human rights compliance in conduct of all operations in line with global best Practices.
President Buhari also use the opportunity to call on all Nigerians to support the Armed forces of Nigeria as they undertake the responsibility of securing us all.
He further called on the media practitioners to support the fight against criminal elements by being objective and patriotic in their civic responsibilities.
He said, “The profession requires that every practitioners must evaluate their evidence before publication especially when reporting the current campaign against terrorism and other crimes.”
The Chief of Army Annual conference is organised to reflect on Army performances in the year 2021 towards more effective operational and administrative performance in the coming year.
The event was attended by all the services Chiefs and Senior Principals in Nigeria Army. Other dignitaries are Chhairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Nigerian Customs Service, Nigerian immigration, NDLEA, Nigeria Police among Others.
