There is serious tension among residents of Damaturu, the Yobe State capital, following reported influx of suspected criminals into the metropolis.
The escalating fear is coming as Christian faithful prepare to celebrate this year’s Christmas festival.
A security source noted, that intelligence received revealed the influx of suspected young men mostly, within the ages of 18 to 25 into Damaturu metropolis who are mostly seen involved in menial jobs within and around the city.
“In view of the above, surveillance efforts have been intensified to identify and apprehend the suspects for profiling.
“Similarly, sister agencies have been intimated on the development, while troops have also been requested to remain vigilant against possible infiltration by insurgents and their sympathisers,” the source said.
It was gathered that people in the state have been tasked by security agencies to report suspicious persons, object or movement to nearby security formation for necessary action.
