The monitoring and Evaluation Team from Army Headquarters has applauded the ongoing Exercise Enduring Peace of the Guards Brigade which was designed towards ensuring the security of the residents of the FCT and its environs.
The Head of Monitoring and Evaluation Team from Army Headquarters, Major General Olusegun Adesina said this when he led his team of other Senior Officers on a Monitoring and Evaluation visit to the Forward Operation Base, Exercise Enduring Peace in the Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory on Tuesday.
Stating the main aim of the visit, Maj. Gen. Adesina emphasized that their visit which is the second since the commencement of the exercise was to monitor and evaluate what the objectives of the exercise are meant to achieve.
He added that he is impressed with the activities of the Guards Brigades since the flagship of the exercise, particularly how they have been able to leverage the help of other relevant security agencies bringing about the synergy the Army constantly yearns for.
“I am impressed by your activities. What I am very happy about in this exercise is the synergy that is playing out within the military and other security agencies.
“They have come out with a working formula that is yielding good results. It gladdens my heart that I can see the civil defense, DSS, and Police in attendance here today,” Maj. Gen. Adesina said
The meeting which was intended to juxtapose the objectives of the Exercise Enduring Peace with its achievements since its flagship in October had in attendance top personnel from the Army and other security agencies including the Department of State Services, DSS, Nigerian Security, and Civil Defense Corps as well as the Nigerian Police.
Exercise Enduring Peace was flagged on 4th October to checkmate criminal activities within the FCT and Nasarawa State and the operation has continued to yield positive results ranging from arrest of kidnappers to the rescue of several victims who have been reunited with their loved ones.
Whilst thanking all security agencies that were ably represented, he affirmed that the troops of the Guards Brigade have been on top of their game and the exercise a huge success so far.
He, however, implored the Brigade to continue the good work towards achieving the Chief of Army Staff, COAS, vision which is to have a professional Nigeria Army ready to accomplish the assigned mission within a joint environment in defense of Nigeria, reiterating his zeal towards enhancing troops welfare.
They carried out public destruction of confiscated illicit drugs at the Battalion obstacle ground. The drugs include heroin, cocaine, cannabis, tramadol, codine, and others.
