The National President Defence Police Officers Wives Association (DEPOWA), Barrister Mrs Victoria Irabor on Wednesday eulogised the members of the Armed Forces and other security agencies for their resilient, diligence and commitment towards the fight against insurgency in the North East and for keeping the peace in the nation at large.

Irabor gave the commendation while on an operational and humanitarian visit to Headquarters Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI in collaboration with the Honourable Federal Commissioner, National Commission for Refugee, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI) Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman Ibrahim as well as all the wives of the Service Chiefs.

She noted that the visit to the Theatre is considered as a top priority in order to show appreciation for the tremendous efforts of the military in combating insurgency, banditry, kidnapping and other crimes in the country.

She said "We are proud of you and your achievements, we as your wives and mothers of your children we will continue to take care of the homefront as well pray for your safety as you continue to discharge you duties in the field.

She also added that, the visit will also give them the opportunity to visit the sick and wounded in action troops in the hospital as well as afford them the time to meet and interact with the widows in the barracks in order to support them in their own little way. 

Irabo also added that all lives are precious as such we commisserate with the entire Theatre and families that have lost their loved ones as a result of the insurgency esoecially the recent dmise of Late Brig Gen K Zurkushi. 

In her remarks, the Honourable Federal Commissioner, NCFRMI Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman Ibrahim extolled the military for their untiring efforts and commintment, adding that the nation is grateful for their sacrifices in ensuring safety of lives and property acros board.

Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Theatre Commander, Major General Christopher Musa expressed delights to have in the Theatre the National President of DEPOWA, Barrister Mrs Victoria Irabo, the wives of all the service chiefs of the Armed Forces of Nigeria at a time like this, adding that this is a great honour, recognition and a morale booster to officers and troops in OPHK.

The President and her entourage were briefed on the Civil Military activities of OPHK by the Theatre Commander, Major General Christopher Musa. 

Irabor and members of her entourage proceeds to 7 Divisiom Medical Services and Hospital where they interact and commisserate with recuperating officers and soldiers in the facility. Thereafter, they met, interact and gave out supports in cash with assorted foods and beaverages to the Widows in the entire Theatre. 


While commiserating with the widows, she comforts and charge them to be strong and look ahead for the future adding that the sacrifices of their husbands will not go in vain.

In the meantime, DEPOWA President and her entrouge took a trip to Muhammadu Buhari Internally Displaced persons camp where the Honourable Federal Commissioner NCFRMI Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman distributes food items to families and victims of insurgency habiting in the camp. 

The programme tag "Project Zero Hunger" is to enable the commission touch the lives of the IDPs by giving them hope and sense of belonging irrespective of their condition. 

She said the project is the brain child of the Federal Government in meeting and assuaging the plight of victims.of insurgency. 

They also visited the Deputy Governor of Borno State Honourable Umar Usman Kadafur at the government house.

Highlights of the visit includes a courtesy visit to the Theatre Commander by the President DEPOWA Barrister Mrs Victoria Irabor along with Honourable Federal Commissioner, CIMIC brief by the Theatre Commander, presentation of Souvenirs and group photograph to mark their visit to the theatre. 

Others are a visit to 7 DMSH, a meeting and presentation of items to the Widows, distribution of aassorted food items to IDPs at Muhammadu Buhari IDP Camp, courtesy visit to the Deputy Governor of Borno State before departing for Abuja.

Members of the entourage includes the Honourable Federal Commissioner NCFRMI, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman Ibrahim, National President NAOWA, Mrs Salamatu Yahay, President NOWA, Mrs Nana Gambo, President NAFOWA, Mrs Elizabeth Amao, other national Executives from all the various Associations, the wife of the Theatre Commander, Chairperson NAOWA 7 Division and a host of other senior officers wives and members of the NCFRMI respectively.
