The Nigerian Senate has commended the troops of the Nigerian for its outstanding performance in the ongoing operations against insurgency, terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other criminal activities across the country.
Brig Gen Onyema Nwachukwu made this known in a statement relayed to SpyeTV on Thursday.
He said, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume, who is the Chairman Senate Committee on Army, gave the commendation when he led members of the Senate Committee on Army on a working visit to the Chief of Army Staff ( COAS) ,Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya at the Army Headquarters, Abuja.
Senator Ndume while expressing appreciation to the Nigerian Army for the feat achieved in recent times against Boko Haram/Islamic State West Africa Province terrorists in the North East, banditry in the North West and other criminalities said the service under the current leadership had demonstrated its commitment, capacity and determination to ending the security challenges bedeviling the country.

He added that the Nigerian Army has recorded tremendous success in all its operations which according to him has led to total disarray of bandits in North West and North East Nigeria.
He, therefore, urged the Nigerian Army not to rst on their oars until the country is free from the grips of insecurity. He assured the Nigerian Army of the senate’s support in all its operations.
Senator Ali Ndume also called on Nigerians to give the Nigerian Army the desired support needed in their operations by sharing actionable information that will aid their operations.
Responding, the COAS expressed gratitude to the committee for the visit , noting that it would spur the troops to do more.
He assured the Senate Committee of its support in providing adequate security for their tour to various Nigerian Army units and formations to assess its ongoing operations and also obtain firsthand information.
