The Zamfara State Police Command has desmissed the _Daily Trust_ report indicating that bandits attacked police stations, Shinkafi town of Zamfara State.
Spokesperson, Zamfara Police Command, SP Mohammed Shehu made this disclosure in a statement relayed to AbujaCityJournal on Sunday in Abuja.
Shebu described the entire report as false, authoritatively stating that there was no attack on any police station in Shinkafi LGA or any part of Zamfara state as wrongly reported.
"Similarly, the report of attack on Shinkafi town was also inaccurate.
" What happened was that in the early hours of Friday, 24th September 2021, armed bandits in their large number attempted to attack Shinkafi, but were proactively repelled by the joint police and military operatives stationed in the town, with heavy casualties suffered by the bandits."he added
He revealed that, there is no loss of life either from the Security forces or the inhabitants and that no one was abducted.
"The security situation in the town is very calm, with communities going about their legitimate business. While new security measures are being enforced effectively", he noted.
Shehu stated that the Command was surprised that the reputable newspaper would publish such sensitive security report without confirmation from the Police or any constituted authority, when it has correspondent in Gusau.
He therefore enjoined the press as well as general public to desist from airing fake and unsubstantiated stories.
Instead, urging that such reports should be verified before finding their way to the public.
