No Ambiguity Concerning the 8000 Terrorists that Surrendered - GOC

There is no confusion concerning the 8000 repented Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists that surrendered to the Nigerian Army so far because they are have genuinely repented.

The acting General Officer Commanding, 7 Division of the Nigerian Army and Commander Sector 1 Operation Hadin Kai, Brig. Gen. Abdulwahab Eyitayo disclosed this in his remarks after the demonstration by troops on how they use MLPS vehicles during operations.

He said that, the circumstances that led to their surrendering may be defeatable. We can tell you authoritatively over 8000 of them, their families, children are here with the Nigerian Army.

The GOC noted that, the intention to surrendered is genuine because every man endeavour is surrendered by desire to cater for family. "If they are not ready to surrender, I don't think they will bring their family to mingle with us. So with thier family with us, we could say that their intention is genuine but what is after there might be defeatable". 

He said there is still time for terrorists to surrender, for the opportunity would soon be closed after which the military would embark on a full onslaught to rout them out of the country.

The GOC attributed the massive surrendering of the terrorists to the intensive bombardment of their enclaves and blocking of food and other logistics supplies to their camps by troops.

There was some little Crack in the camp of Boko Haram /ISWAP Terrorists that facilitate their surrending to the Nigerian Troops.

It's a welcoming development, when we actually see signs as far back as June this year that terrorists will surrender to us as far back as June this year.

The GOC therefore advised Nigerians to encourage bandits or terrorists to surrender instead of giving food as whoever seen with them will be neutralized by the Nigerian Army when the time comes.

"A friend to the enemy is an enemy of the nation. The terrorists have learnt a lesson and they are surrendering. They have opportunity to live now, after the grace door is closed, they won't be spared.

Speaking on the MRAPs Vehicle demonstration, the GOC said, it is a demonstration of how troops while on operations came under attack by terrorists but overpowered them killing and recovering their weapons.

He added that "the MRAPs you are seeing have been tested, deployed on the fields and used against the Boko Haram terrorists and they have proven to be good to go.

" The Legion MRAP is the full package armored vehicle for todays war fighter", he said.

According to him, the Legion MRAP can be outfitted with a unique Turret, outclasses all similar manned turrets in protection and versatility and has a proven battle record with over 500 units in service on various vehicles around the world.

On his part, the Director Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyeama Nwachukwu thanked the GOC for the beautiful professional Demonstration by the troops of the function of the MRAPs when fighting insurgency at the frontline.

Nwachukwu who led a team of journalists to access the current security situation in the North East said, the overall end objective of the media and facility tour by the DAPR and the media team is to boost the non kinetic approach and psychological operation efforts of the military in ongoing fight against terrorism.
