The Headquarters 23 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in collaboration with the International Committee of Red Cross recently organized a 2 Day workshop to sensitise troops on humanitarian law and the application of Armed Conflict during military operations.
The workshop focused on the necessities of respect for human rights and protection of Civilians. Others were Rules of Engagement which are the fulcrum of professional military operations the world over.
Giving his remarks during the closing ceremony, the commander 23 Brigade Brigadier General Aminu Garba thanked the Chief of Army Staff Major General Faruk Yahaya for granting the approval for the Workshop in his resolved to mold troops professionally in line with best practices while commending the sponsors for leveraging on the existing excellent civil-military relations to ensure that troops of the Nigerian Army operate within purview of international standard.
Brigadier General Garba assured the organisers that the lesson learned would be applied in various areas of military engagements.
Highlights of the event were the presentation of souveniurs and group photographs.
