Breaking: Nigerian Air Force ALPHA-JET Goes Missing, Looses Contact with Radar in Borno

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), says its Alpha-Jet has lost contact with radar in Borno State, while on interdiction mission in support of ground troops.

Report has it that the mission was part of the ongoing counterinsurgency operations in the North East.

Spokesman of the Directorate of Public Relations and Information (DOPRI), Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja. 

Gabkwet said the loss of radar contact occurred yesterday, 31 March 2021 at about 5:08 pm

According to him, details of the whereabout of the aircraft or the likely cause of contact loss was yet to be ascertained.

But the NAF spokesman said it will be relayed to the general public as soon as they become clear.

He noted that, search and rescue operation is ongoing.
