Lawali Danladi, a 20-year-old man, is currently cooling it off with the Niger state Police Command.
He reportedly killed his wife after a misunderstanding regarding pap which she prepared for him.
Danladi during the misunderstanding had beaten his wife, Zulai Lawal to a coma.
She woman later died in the hospital.
Danladi who was paraded at the Niger state Police Headquarters in Minna explained he did not know the woman could die from the beating.
He said that he did not like the way she prepared the pap and in the cause of the argument, things got heated up which made him descend on her and beat her mercilessly.
“I never knew she would die. It was just a misunderstanding over mere pap and I did not know that when she fainted, she would not wake up. I should never have beaten her. I regret my action,” Danladi said.
The Police spokesperson for Niger state, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, said the suspect was arrested in Kadaura village in Yakila Gunna district of Rafi LGA based on credible information.
According to him, the suspect had confessed to having beaten his wife to coma adding that by the time she was rushed to the General Hospital Wushishi, she was confirmed dead.
He said investigations had commenced and the suspect would be charged to court as appropriate.
