Ekiti Man Remanded for Syndicating Woman’s Nude Video

An Ekiti State Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ado Ekiti, the state capital,  yesterday remanded one Ola Samuel for alleged conspiracy to rape a middle-aged woman.

Samuel was also alleged to have sent the nude video of the woman to her former husband through the social media, with a view to forcing her to accept his overtures.

Prosecutor, E. S. Etane, informed the court the defendant and others now at large committed the offence sometime in October 2020.

He maintained the offences were contrary to and punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code Act, Cap C39, LFN, 2004 and Section 24(1)(a) and (b) of the Cyber Crime Prohibition and Prevention Law, 2015.

In her ruling, Magistrate Dolapo Fasuba, who condemned the sharing of the nude video of another human, said “Sexual act is sacred and should remain private.”

The magistrate maintained the need for every human begin to protect the dignity of parties in sexual act.

Fasuba insisted “Bail for the accused person is hereby refused; he is ordered to be remanded in the Nigerian Correctional Centre, Ado Ekiti, till April 8, 2010."
