The Golden Movie Ambassadors of Nigeria (TGMAN) has reacted to the news making rounds on social media and several online blogs as regards the purported suspension of Nigerian filmmakers, Kunle Afod and Yewande Adekoya by The Yoruba Video/Films Producers and Marketers Association of Nigeria (YOVIFPMAN) in a letter dated 3rd October, 2016 addressed to The President of YOVIFPMAN (copy of same mail was sent to The Secretary of YOVIFPMAN).
The national executives and the entire members of TGMAN considers the relationship between TGMAN and YOVIFPMAN very critical and sincerely hold this symbiotic relationship very dearly. TGMAN therefore expects that issues of dispute between members of TGMAN and YOVIFPMAN should be discussed between both associations before drastic measures are taken.
Mr Afod is a prominent member of The Golden Movie Ambassadors of Nigeria (TGMAN) whose contribution to the growth and development of the Yoruba genre of movie production in Nigeria has been VERY SIGNIFICANT. TGMAN reckons that he has been marketing his movies through members of YOVIFPMAN for over two (2) decades without being accused of breaching any agreement or trust within this time frame.
TGMAN have also been informed that no memo as regards the suspension by YOVIFPMAN have been served on Mr Afod, neither has he been called to any meeting to give his defense to the allegations raised against him before the internet was flooded with information purportedly emanating from YOVIFPMAN.
The association therefore believes that it will be totally unfair to reach such a sensitive decision and put same in public domain without a process that follows internationally acceptable arbitration standards.
Whilst TGMAN will like to play the unbiased arbiter in this matter, the association will not accept a primitive process that is vindictive and aimed at painting her members in very negative images on the internet and in whatever news media; as this will be injurious to their reputation and pose severe difficulties to doing their businesses globally.
The Golden Movie Ambassadors of Nigeria (TGMAN) is an association of pro-active film makers who are poised to make significant change in the art of film making, moderating film making practice among her members to attain a sustainable standard that will deliver quality to film consumers and make movies pay movie makers indeed.
