Famous Yoruba actresses Seyi Ariyo (She Baby) has reacted
to news flying on social media network on how Kemi Afolabi
borrowing clothes from She Baby which she refused to give
back has gotten the attention of the President of The Golden
Movie Ambassadors of Nigeria (T G MAN) but the actresses
are yet to let all sleeping dogs lay.
Seyi Ariyo (She Baby) sent out a press release explaining
what transpired between them; read below....
TITLE: Aye Alaye Movie , Kemi Afolabi, the lies and the real issues.
INTRODUCTION: PROV 26 VS 4-5 .
Answer not a fool according to his folly , lest thou also be like unto him .
Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit.
Background:
While casting actors for Aye alaye(ll) , the actor we intended to use for a particular role was unavoidably absent, hence, we needed a substitute , it was at that point that i contacted Kemi Afolabi , she agreed to be a part of the movie , sent her account details and her fees was paid fully, before location started.
Issues:
(1) Her schedule , which she was aware of before she was paid for the role was, between 10am and 4pm with other actors. On the said day, Kemi came to location around 5pm , 6 hours behind schedule, she delayed other actors ,some left and we had to amend the script , just because of her lateness .
2) On arrival , Kemi said she had no costumes to wear ,wondering why a professional will come to location without her costumes, as agreed...
Now, we have no option than to source for clothes that fits her role for her. To use on set, which I did .
She finished her role about 10pm, then She said to me that she will need hotel room for the night , she returned one of the 2 costumes borrowed her .
3) Now hotel accommodation wasn't part of our agreement at all, she disrupted other things that we had to do on set,until she was persuaded to leave .
At that point, my stand was, none of the actors on set was accommodated in any hotel , I won't and didn't make an exception for Kemi , if she had respected the terms and time of her schedule , hotel accommodation won't be necessary .
4) MEDIA STUNT :
The next day after location, I sent Kemi an Sms thanking her for coming and reminding her to send the clothe she used on set across to me , Kemi neither acknowledged nor responded to any of messages ,that went on for weeks and the next thing I saw was she blocked me on Whasp, deleted me on BB deleted Me on BBM and blocked me on instagram .I called her out on BBM to return the clothes, immediately I made the post ,a senior colleague called me to pull the PM down before he will listen to anything I have to say,which I did ;afterwards,he called , I explained to him,he promised to help me get my clothes.as far as I am concern that was the end of the issue, I gave him the respect and buried the hatchet , he got the clothes and sent it to me .
Thereafter Kemi Afolabi went on instagram made a post about it which various bloggers have been circulating for weeks , funny enough her posted version is majorly half truths an attempt to hype a not so vibrant brand .
5) Finally,Other people's names have erroneously come up on this issue;why will anyone bring the names of those who were not part of the crew into the mess ? To be in the news constantly? To rap up fame? Truthfully, I don't know ,but one thing is certain , you can't build fame on packs of lies,such fame can't stand the test of time .
CONCLUSION :Our association instructed everyone involved in this to keep quiet, that the issue has dragged on enough ,an instruction that I have kept till now.
However,for posterity ,I owe everybody who had read the lies being circulated ,a true perspective of what happened on set and after location .
Will it change anything ?Maybe, but one thing is certain ,if lies run for a thousand years ,truth will catch up in a day
