NDLEA arrests village head for alleged possession of 12kg of Indian hemp

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested the village head of Koje in Nasarawa State, for alleged possession of 12 kg of India hemp.
Sumaila Ethan, the state Commander of the NDLEA, who paraded the suspect before newsmen on Friday in Lafia, described the conduct of the village head as ``ungodly and unfortunate.’’

He said 28 drug dealers were arrested across the state from January to date, while about 460 kg of narcotic and psychotropic substances were seized.
Ethan said that the command had secured the conviction of seven drug barons, counseled and rehabilitated.10, while others are facing trial in court.
He called for collective efforts in tackling the production, sales and consumption of illicit drugs in the state.
The suspect, Samuel Agu in an interview, confirmed that he got the seed from a herdsman to plant, but denied consuming the substance.
