The Ondo State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt.
Hon. Jumoke Akindele and her deputy, Hon. Fatai
Olotu have been impeached.
Sources within the Assembly said they were
impeached by 18 lawmakers.
The lawmakers appended their signatures to a notice
of impeachment.
The lawmakers have also elected Hon. Iroju
Ogundeji from Odigbo loca government as Speaker
and Hon. Ayo Arowele from Owo local government
as the deputy speaker.
The impeachment exercise was carried out at one of
the lawmakers’ quarters around 10pm on Tuesday.
However, reasons for the impeachment of the
speaker and the deputy are still unknown as at the
time of filing this report.
But a lawmaker, who spoke with Pye in
anonymity confirmed that the speaker and the
deputy had been impeached.
“I will talk to you later. The speaker has been
impeached. But I can’t give you the whole gist. We
will talk tomorrow”, he said.
