Dr Theresa (editor’s note: the second name is not revealed) working with the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital in Ile-Ife, Osun state, is reported to have been beaten by a male colleauge, Dr Okpara, on Thursday, February 25.

incident took place on the Thursday morning, February 25, at the parking lot
near the compound where both Theresa, the senior registrar 1 at the department
of psychiatry of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, and Dr
Okpara, a resident doctor at the department of community medicine of the same
hospital and the wing commander with the Nigerian Air Force, lived
On that Thursday morning Dr Okpara called
Theresa, and asked her to move the car and let him drive out of the parking
lot. Theresa replied that she would soon be out, however, Okpara was too
impatient, and would not stop shouting.

her, perhaps, affronted by the calmness she desplayed despite being shouted at,
as some eyewitnesses suggested. Fortunately, he was soon restrained from
further attacks by some of the co-tenants; nevertheless, Theresa sustained
numerous injures, a nasal bone fracture, the cerebrospinal fluid
leakage and several bruises among them.
