Dr Theresa (editor’s note: the second name is not revealed) working with the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital in Ile-Ife, Osun state, is reported to have been beaten by a male colleauge, Dr Okpara, on Thursday, February 25.
       
      – Reportedly, Dr Okpara attacked Theresa because she had blocked his car.
       
        – Theresa sustained various injures, and now is in need of a surgical intervention.

Theresa was beaten up by a male colleague for allegedly blocking his car. Ile-Ife, Osun state In the words of Theresa and Dr Okpara’s colleagues, who have reached Naij.com via Naij Report app, the incident took place on the Thursday morning, February 25, at the parking lot near the compound where both Theresa, the senior registrar 1 at the department of psychiatry of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital, and Dr Okpara, a resident doctor at the department of community medicine of the same hospital and the wing commander with the Nigerian Air Force, lived

The eyewitnesses told Naij.com that morning they were woken up by the shrill shouts of Dr Okpara. It turned out that Dr Theresa’s car was obstructing his way out of the parking lot. In the words of the compund residents where the incident occurred, the parking space there is inadequate, and the tenants sometimes have to park behind other cars; then in the mornings they occasionally call each other when there are the problems with driving out.

On that Thursday morning Dr Okpara called Theresa, and asked her to move the car and let him drive out of the parking lot. Theresa replied that she would soon be out, however, Okpara was too impatient, and would not stop shouting.

 Dr Theresa. Ile-Ife, Osun state When Theresa went out, Dr Okpara suddenly attacked her, perhaps, affronted by the calmness she desplayed despite being shouted at, as some eyewitnesses suggested. Fortunately, he was soon restrained from further attacks by some of the co-tenants; nevertheless, Theresa sustained numerous injures, a nasal bone fracture, the cerebrospinal fluid leakage and several bruises among them.

In the words of Theresa’s collegaues, she is now in need of a surgical intervention to correct the facial deformity. All collegues described Theresa, a sickle-cell disease survivor, as a very gentle, easy-going, ever-smiling and hardworking resident doctor, adding that even if she did not possess those attributes, she would nMale doctor beats his female colleauge for blocking his car (photos)
