A woman identified as Sabbath recently sold out one of her 5-
day-old twins for N90,000.00 to a child trafficking gang
operating between Akwa Ibom and Lagos.
The suspect who blamed her action on poverty said; ‘ ’It was
poverty that led me into this mess. It is true that I sold one of
my twins for N90,000.00 to Mr Akpanam and Mr Samuel to be
able to train the other baby. My husband’s family should
forgive me for what I have done, it was poverty that led me
into this’’.
Akwa Ibom Assistant Commissioner of Police Mike Okoli said
police have recovered the baby she sold out and arrested her
and the other members of the syndicate.
