As part of its celebration to mark the right of women
in Nigeria and across the world on a day tagged
mother’s day globally, the Nigerian women in clergy
under the leadership of prophetess Nonnie Roberson
has again reached out to a forgotten victim of Boko
Haram Bomb blast who lost her only child in the
first Nyanya bomb blast where several people were
killed.
Recall that Madam Grace Omokoro Joe, a Widow,
lost her only Son, Joel Olukayode, a graduate of
Federal University of Technology to the first Nyanya
bomb blast. Joel was to resume his first temporary
job in Abuja town the said day the incident
happened.
At the celebration that saw different clergy women
converging at Prophetess Roberson’s residence, the
women presented different gift items, including
rappers, headgears, bags of rice and some cash to
wipe the victim’s tears on a day they believed she
was to receive some gifts from her late Son.
Speaking, Nonnie said, “it is imperative her tears are
wiped on a day women all over the world are
celebrating.”
She said the humanitarian effort was a follow up on
the group’s earlier promise to remember the woman
on events where her Son’s death can likely re-
awaken her pain.
Nonnie said, “we have been trying to give her all
necessary supports, and in our last meeting where
we gave her some gifts, we promised to always
remember her on days like this. We are a credible
body that does not make empty promises. Today,
we have invited her to celebrate the mother’s
Sunday with us. Some youths are part of us as you
can see. Going forward, we may have one of the
youths from the youth wing of the Women in Clergy
to adopt her as a mother.”
Prophetess Nonnie also called on Nigerians to
contribute towards the revival of the broken pieces
of the bereaved woman, saying that accommodation
was one of her major challenges.
Responding, Madam Grace Expressed gratitude to
the women of God for their selfless efforts towards
her matter, stating that only God could repay the
hands that give. She said her joy was that her Son
died as a good Christian, believing that he is now
resting with the Lord.
In her closing remarks, Nonnie urged Nigerian
women to collect their PVC, and vote wisely for
President Goodluck Jonathan who had all along
been gender sensitive. She advised the women to
reject any leader who pushes for the abolition of the
First Lady’s office. Nonnie also advised Nigerian
youth to ” know their history as that will direct them
on who to vote for.
