BARRING any last minute hitches, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is set declare for the 2015 presidential race, under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
A close associate of the former vice president told the Nigerian Tribune in confidence in Abuja, at the weekend, that Atiku had embarked on extensive consultations with stakeholders at home and abroad and had consequently resolved to come out and declare for the race any time from now.
The source disclosed that Atiku would, immediately after public declaration, begin his campaign by taking messages of peaceful co-existence, true nationalism and an end to religious fanaticism and extremism round the country.
Efforts to get the head of the media office of Atiku, Mallam Garba Shehu, for comment failed, as his telephone lines were off.
A close associate of the former vice president, however, told the Nigerian Tribune that all the necessary arrangements had been put in place to make the public declaration a success.
