Real Madrid and Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo has used social media to leave a touching message to his grandmother, who passed away on Tuesday.Filomena Aveira, who was 87, died shortly after Ronaldo's return from the World Cup in Brazil, where his Portugal side endured an ignominious exit from the group stage.
The 29-year-old, who is currently on holiday following elimination from the tournament, took to his Twitter page to announce the death of his grandmother and leave a heart-felt tribute on Tuesday.
"Grandmother, you will always be in my heart," the former Manchester United attacker wrote.
"Rest in peace. Kisses from all your grandchildren."
The tweet was accompanied by a photo of him and his son, Cristiano Ronaldo Junior, taken with Filomena some weeks before. See the tweet after cut....
